This Italian 'exploitation classic' depicts the story of Catherine Miles (Elvire Audray) who spent almost two years with the Guanira tribe-headhunters of the Amazon jungle. After the barbarious killing of her parents during an Orinoco boat trip, Catherine is taken to the Guanira village where she has to live through a series of 'hallucinating' experiences until she manages to escape and seek revenge. An excellent piece of Euro-trash from Mario Gariazzo who also directed THE SEXORCIST.

Mario Gariazzo isn’t Ruggero Deodato! … to whom initially was committed the realization and this can be deducted from this film where the story appears few believable; the protagonist Elvire Audray (Katherine Miles in the film falls in love with the savage belonging to the tribe killed her parents) and from the scenes with few gore and scarces special effects, that instead caracterized “Cannibal Movies” by Ruggero Deodato, often esagering with true scenes of gratuitous cruelty inflicted to animals. The actors’ skill is instead good, Elvine Audray, who had first worked with Sergio Martino in the film “Murder in an Etruscan Cemetery” in 1982, and Andrea Coppola, who worked with Enzo Castellari in the films “Escape from the Bronx (1983) e The New Barbarians (1982)”.
